Is There A Business Case For Using Twitter? (Part 2) — Communication Tool

My business partner Pat Kitano and I have been thinking a lot lately about Twitter. What is it? How will it impact real estate marketing? In my first article, I acknowledged that at first glance, Twitter looks like an enormously fun waste of time. Far smarter minds than mine have made much the same pointtwice!

We believe there is a business case for using Twitter effectively in real estate. I’d like to present several examples here of using Twitter as a communication tool, then follow up later with a more metaphysical discussion.

1. Conferences—Keeping track of the conversation, aka knowing where the cool kids are.

If you’re in real estate and have not been hiding under a stack of open escrows (not likely), you’ll know there were two big industry events last week: Inman Connect, and the REBarCamp pre-conference. Both conferences had an active “Twitterstream” conversation going on, (here for Inman, here for REBarCamp) not a simul-cast, but more of a “parallel-cast” to the actual sessions.

The image below is a sample of the conversation in the parallel-cast during a session on the MLS; note that slight edginess, bordering on rudeness, gets your message amplified: Continue reading this post

Good Things Come To Those Who Wait…and Wait… and Wait…

Back at the dawn of the creation of the HomeGain Guest Blogger program, Kevin Boer was one of the first bloggers to sign on.

We knew Mr. Boer was a busy and important persona in the online real estate world and we were delighted that he had agreed to contribute his insight, wisdom and wit to the HomeGain Real Estate Blog.

Over the course of the past six months, however, while his partner at Domus Consulting, Pat Kitano also one of HomeGain’s first guest bloggers, dutifully contributed posts, we heard nothing from Kevin.

Last week we finally tracked down Kevin at Inman Connect in San Francisco. We discovered that Kevin had been suffering from Continue reading this post

Invasion of the Guest Bloggers – The Second Wave

Pat Kitano comes to us from Domus Consulting Group, a Web 2.0 or more specifically a Real Estate 2.0 firm that works with real estate brokerages to help them develop technology marketing strategies.

Pat is one of two founding partners of the Domus Consulting Group, the other is Kevin Boer, also a future HomeGain guest blogger and real estate broker/owner of 3 Oceans Real Estate that runs an innovative blog of the same name 3oceansrealestate.com.

Pat and I started our blogging relationship with a discussion of the merits of Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 last summer. Expect that debate to continue here now that Pat is a guest blogger.

While you are waiting for Pat’s post please check out Pat’s insightful blog, Transparent Real Estate. Continue reading this post

Six Million And Counting

Today we announced in a press release that HomeGain.com received more than 6MM website visits last month, making us the second most visited real estate website to start off the year, according to Hitwise.

We attribute this number to our recently redesigned website and access to tools that allow visitors to:

• Get instant estimates of homes values and connect with AgentView real estate agents to receive information regarding the home selling process

• Find and compare Realtors using AgentEvaluator

• View MLS listings displayed by thousands of BuyerLink™ real estate agents and brokers

• Determine the best home improvements with Home Sale Maximizer

Let’s not forget the latest HomeGain resource, this real estate blog, as well.

On the press release Louis commented: “We are pleased to announce the launch of our guest blogger program that brings to HomeGain some of the best real estate bloggers in the country. To date we have featured Continue reading this post
