HomeGain Office Olympics 2008

On Monday, August 18th, 2008 kicked off its 2nd Annual Office Olympics. Coincidentally it was also the official Summer Olympics this year!

The kick off meeting was held in HomeGain’s Emeryville Employee Lounge, and we had numerous events throughout the week, including:

  • “How Many Pieces of Candy are in the Jar” – each team had to guess how many pieces of candy were in the jar and the closest without going over was the winner.
  • “Word Find” – the contestants were read a question with the answer being the word they needed to find. These questions were based on HomeGain facts or people.
  • “Max needs a Roommate”- each team turned in their Roommate applications as well as a Model Roommate for Max. All teams was giving a bag of supplies and the Ad that Max placed in the paper for a Roommate. Each team then needed to “create” a roommate for Max. As you can see from the picture, Max had a lot of great options!
  • “Paper basketball” – the goal was to get the paper basketballs into the waste paper basket. Each team had one person holding the basket with the others tossing ten paper basketballs into the basket – or at least attempting to get them in the basket! This is an event we also did last year. Since this is an outdoor event sometimes there are issues with the wind, but this year we had nice weather so the wind was not a factor. Continue reading this post

HomeGain Celebrates 9th Anniversary with a Trip to AT&T Park

On June 4, HomeGain treated its employees to a trip to AT&T Park to see the San Francisco Giants play the New York Mets.

“As HomeGain enters it 10th year, we look forward to continuing to delight our customers and employees,” said HomeGain General Manager Louis Cammarosano.

Although the San Francisco Giants lost 5-3, HomeGainers who attended seemed to have enjoyed the beautiful day and a fun time out at the park.

Last year we celebrated HomeGain’s 8th anniversary by going to an Oakland A’s game at the Coliseum. Continue reading this post

The Importance of Treating HomeGain Employees Like Customers

In the beginning of this year, HomeGain created 2008 Goals that not only focused on the customers, but also on the employees. Each employee received a copy of these goals and posted them in their workspace.

In order for employees to service our customers in the best manner possible, HomeGain needs to make sure that employees feel valued, are provided with interesting and fulfilling jobs, receive honesty from management, and that HomeGain creates an environment conducive to employee development as well as personal and professional satisfaction.

What has HomeGain done to support these important goals? Here are a few ways HomeGain appreciates its employees:

  • The Employee Activities Committee (EAC), which consists of employees from each department, has come up with activities for all employees to enjoy. One activity is HG30, which was developed to help employees learn and understand more about other departments within HomeGain in 30 minutes or less. HG30 is held in the Employee Lounge Continue reading this post
