Runner Up “Sealed Deals” Home Buyer Cities

Posted by: Peggy Boehm on December 7th, 2007

Part 2

Due to popular demand of the top 5 “sealed deals” blog, we’re posting the next top 5 home buying cities!

These are markets that have been hot pretty consistently this year, even if the market is being recorded as slow on a national level.

In some of these cities we’re talking higher levels of median home prices than the US National. In other cities it’s simply about just selling at a higher volume.

We can all understand that more money for real estate agents and brokers also mean tougher competition.

OK, well, here are the next top five cities. Post a comment if you are an agent in one of these markets and let us what you are experiencing!

Stayed tuned for my next post when we’ll tell you where HomeGain homeowners are selling.

Runner-up Home Buying Cities

6. “Triangle Market” – Raleigh, NC. “Triangle Market” of North Carolina includes Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. When contacted about the Raleigh market, Scott Greeson of RE/MAX United in Raleigh noted, “the Raleigh real estate market is a buyer’s market.” According to Greeson, Raleigh has been afforded “national recognition on the quality of life, ranking of schools, reasonable cost of living (including real estate) and good infrastructure.” The median price for a home in Raleigh is about $225,000.

7. “The Big Guava” – Tampa, FL. Tampa, located on the west coast of central Florida, offers residents unlimited warm-weather recreational options that include beaches, golf, and theme parks. The current real estate market is ripe with a six-month inventory of homes for sale. The median sales price in Tampa is $213,238, down nine percent from $235,000 a year earlier. Tampa is still affordable in comparison to other areas in Florida, where the state median home price is $221,000.

8. “Mile High City” – Denver, CO. Denver has a newly stable market. The average time on market for listings is currently 100 days and a median sales price of $297,812, according to Brian Kinkade of Cherry Creek Professionals Realty. Denver remains an easygoing, temperate city and is home to sports teams like the Colorado Rockies and the Denver Broncos.

9. “Space City” – Houston, TX. Houston ranks as the fourth largest city by population in the nation and is home to NASA and the Johnson Space Center. The local real estate market is balanced with strong growth in new home sales and a solid supply of resale inventories. Houston real estate is very affordable, with the median sales price standing at $150,590, which is 29 percent less than the national average.

10. “The Gateway Arch City” – St. Louis, MO. Inventory levels are increasing with a broad selection of homes available. Quality homes which are attractively presented are selling within the first couple of months of being listed, indicating a positive change from last year. New home projects are plentiful, offering buyers multiple choices.

I am surprised that Central Illinois was not included, about an hour south of Chicago.
